All About New Year’s

All About New Year’s

In this post, the Lenore Blog has a few tips to help you make the most of your New Year’s Eve. Whether you’re planning to go out for the evening or stay in, we have a few tips and tricks to help make your New Year’s awesome.

  1. Throw your own party. We have a few helpful resources for anyone out there ambitious enough to throw their own New Year’s Eve Bash. For food, check out this great list of New Year’s Eve appetizers. Billboard releases a New Year’s Eve playlist (featuring the biggest hits from the outgoing year). You can find the list from 2015 here. For more party planning tips visit Real Simple’s article Throw the Easiest New Year’s Eve Party Ever.

  1. Set a few resolutions. Setting resolutions is a tradition that can be traced back to the Babylonian empire four thousand years ago. Write your resolutions ahead of time using the SMART method to maximize your chances of success. The New York Times has a whole article outlining some helpful advice for anyone who wants to stick with their goals all year.

  1. Attend a New Year’s celebration in Baltimore. Baltimore Magazine usually releases a list of New Year’s celebrations. The list for 2017 hasn’t come out yet, but here’s a list of events from last year. Our guess is that many of the events will be repeating this year, but make sure that you check their website later in the month for a full list of New Year’s events.

  1. Incorporate a few traditions from around the world. In Spain they eat grapes, in Rome they bake cakes, and in Wales they open and close the door to release the old year and all of the bad luck it brought. You can find a full list of New Year’s traditions from around the world on this site. Make sure that you remember to be safe while you celebrate.

  1. Stay at home and watch a broadcast. This is a busy time of year, and by the time New Year’s hits you might feel a little burned out from the hustle and bustle of the season. Relax at home with a fancy recipe like these scallops with potato pancakes and caviar sauce, or keep your meal a little more low-key with this one pan southwest chicken alfredo skillet. Here’s a link to the New Year’s Eve livestream.
